Going to head over some time later today. $100 for these old beauts.

I’ve always wanted an old compact mac, and the IIc is just icing on the cake, always wanted an old command based computer. Interesting pieces of history, and it looks like it comes with games and the boxes.

The 512 has a little display issue, but it’s fixed by holding the case, which leaves me to believe it’s just an old cracked solder.

I could flip them, but I think I’d like to hold onto them for a while. They’ll likely appreciate in value. And they’re just cool to have around.

Crack open the monitor case and replace the CRT with an iPad.

You could get a Raspberry Pi or a CHIP for way less, but maybe you’ve done that already?

You can buy a lot of things for cheaper but they aren’t these things.

If you really want to dork out, I suggest going through these archives. It's very heavy on the history of text based games, but he has some great histories on the developments of computers and code too.

Like I said earlier this should be a good deal. I still like tinkering with mine. Also, a //c isn't technically a Mac ;)

Also make sure to check out macintoshgarden.org for a huge archive of old Mac abandonware. A lot of it will be too new to run on a 68000 Mac like the 512Ke, but there is quite a bit hidden in there that will so check the requirements. Since it is a 512Ke as opposed to the original 512K you should be able to run System 6 on it which will greatly expand the available software that can run. A word of caution though - getting it on there will be a pain in the ass. The 512Ke used Macintosh-format 800KB floppies. First you’ll need to find some of those (maybe included in all the stuff you’re buying today) and something to write them. Modern USB floppy drives only handle the 1.44MB disks so you’ll need either some sort of hack or another old Mac with a “SuperDrive” floppy drive as a go-between.

folklore.org contains tons of old anecdotes on the development of the Macintosh. Take a weekend and read through it
